Meet Our Staff
Dr. Joanne Hach, DVM
Dr. Joanne Hach is the hospital director at Cats & Critters Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Hach has cared for patients at Cats & Critters since 2002.
A native of Randolph, NJ, Dr. Hach attended Bucknell University and received her Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry. Following her undergraduate studies, she completed a Master's Degree program in Biochemistry at the University of Pennsylvania. She went on to attend the New York State College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University and was awarded her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2001. Dr. Hach is a member of the American Association of Feline Practitioners, New York State Veterinary Medical Society and the American Veterinary Medical Association
Dr. Hach works to incorporate gentle handling and quiet approach to help reduce patient stress in the exam room and during hospital visits. She has dedicated her time to developing interests and skills in feline medicine and dentistry. In addition, she has many years of medical and surgical experience with a range of small mammal species. Her focus is on client education and patient care to help improve and maintain patient quality of life from birth to young adult to senior years.
Dr. Hach shares her home with her husband, daughter and son. They enjoy spending time with their 2 cats , Pneuman and Cheddar, and 2 guinea pigs, Nutmeg and Pepper. In her free time she enjoys being outdoors hiking and gardening, enjoys reading and enjoys helping support her children’s sports teams.
Sara E. Heslop, DVM
Originally from Fair Haven, New York, Dr. Sara Heslop received her bachelor's degree in biology from Cornell University before being awarded her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Tufts University in 2011. She received the International Veterinary Medicine Post-Graduate Certificate and Sarah Lee Irwin Wildlife Medicine awards.
She completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Oradell Animal Hospital in New Jersey. Her professional interests include conservation, zoo, wildlife medicine and the "One Health" approach to the intersection of human and animal medicine.
She shares her home with two cats, Darwin and Gibson, as well as two mixed breed dogs, Odin and Pheobe. Her hobbies include traveling and volunteering for animal conservation and health programs worldwide, such as Bambelela Primate Sanctuary in South Africa and Northern Lights Wildlife Sanctuary in British Columbia. She also enjoys outdoor activities, such as hiking, kayaking and camping, as well as painting.
Dr. Caitlin Whyle, DVM
Dr. Caitlin Whyle grew up in Lancaster, N.Y. She graduated from Canisius College in 2012 with a bachelor's degree in biology and a minor in animal behavior. She received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the Royal Veterinary College in 2016. Dr. Whyle then completed a rotating internship at Veterinary Specialists & Emergency Services. Her professional interests include neurology, cardiology, oncology, and exotics. Dr. Whyle has two mixed-breed dog named Bowie and Sadie and three cats named Blackie, Marshmallow, and Chip.
Sarah A. Gebbie, DVM
Dr. Sarah A. Gebbie is an associate veterinarian at Bayview Animal Hospital. She has cared for pets as a general practitioner since 2006, working at both Suburban Animal Hospital and East River Veterinary Hospital prior to Bayview.
Dr. Gebbie completed her undergraduate education in 2002 at the University of California, Los Angeles and received her Bachelor's Degree in Ecology, Behavior and Evolution, with a minor in Classical Civilization. She went on to attend the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine and was awarded her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2006.
Soft tissue surgery is just one of her many professional interests. She also enjoys working with small mammals and exotics, including rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, rats, mice, hamsters and gerbils.
Dr. Gebbie has one dog named Sheba and two cats name Harry and Weasley. In her spare time, she enjoys singing with her band, boating, camping and spending time with her husband and two sons.
Our Management Team
Licensed Veterinary Technician Supervisor
Gwen Rivers is a full-time veterinary technician at Cats & Critters. She was born in Waterville, Maine and raised in Belfast, Maine and Lake George. She has been working with animals for more than 20 years. Gwen achieved her associate's degree in veterinary technology from SUNY University at Delhi, as well as a certificate in small business management.
She says that her favorite part of work is seeing a variety of species and her relationship with her coworkers. Rivers owns a Rottweiler named Trinity and four cats. In her free time, she enjoys gardening, bass fishing, and hiking. She is happily married to her husband, Ken, with two daughters.
Animal Care Assistant
Alex Doucette is a full-time Animal Care Assistant and Customer Service Representative at Cats & Critters. Alex was born and raised in North Attleboro, Massachusetts, and has been working at Cats & Critters since April, 2017.
Her favorite part of her job is the variety of patients and cases that she is exposed to. Alex is furthering her education, and beginning tech school in September. She has a dog named Nala, and three cats: Sherman, Arthur and Sebastian. In her free time she enjoys walking her dog and spending time with her family.
Licensed Veterinary Technician
Ariel Franklin is a part-time Licensed Veterinary Technician at Cats & Critters. Ariel was born in Springville, New York, and raised in Pike, New York. She has been working with Animals since she was 16 years old.
Ariel’s favorite part of working at Cats & Critters is the welcoming, peaceful atmosphere. She says that it is unlike any other hospital that she’s worked at, and that the patients and employees leave happy. Ariel has many pets including her Chihuahuas, Dibbs and Tuffy, Her ferrets, Smurf and Daphne, and her four cats, April, Whisky, Deuce, and Wednesday. She spends her free time hiking with her dogs and quilting.
Cyndi Guillaume is a full-time veterinary technician at Cats & Critters. She was born and raised in Webster, NY and has been working with animals for the majority of her life. Cyndi achieved an associate's degree veterinary technology from SUNY University at Delhi before earning her bachelor's degree in animal science from Cornell University.
She says that her favorite part of work is working with the cats and different exotic animals that they see. Cyndi owns two dogs, three cats and one rabbit. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and husband. She has three grown children and two grandchildren.
Client Service Representative
Kelly Wicks is a part-time client service representative at Cats & Critters. She was born and raised in Rochester, NY and has been working with animals for the past six years.
She says that her favorite part of work is being around cats and also seeing an assortment of other small creatures. Wicks owns two cats, Sinclair and Cedar. In her free time, she enjoys photography, gardening, and bird watching. She is happily married with two children.
Animal Care Assistant
Carol Bartlett is a full time Animal Care Assistant at Cats & Critters. Carol was born in Maryland, and grew up in New Hampshire. She has been working with animals since September, 2017.
Carol’s favorite part of her job is the passion exuded by her co-workers towards their work, and the positive impact her job has on the lives of both her and animals. She owns three cats named Olivia, Michio, and Finn. In Carol’s free time she enjoys figure skating, drawing comics, and taking her cat, Finn, on walks.
Client Service Representative
Shannon Pascale is a full-time client service representative at Cats & Critters. She was born and raised in Rochester, NY and has been working with animals since 2012.
She says that her favorite part of work is the clients she interacts with and their feline and exotic friends. Pascale owns a pitbull named Radar and a fish. In her free time, she enjoys reading, camping, cooking, and traveling. She also volunteers for Rescue Pit and Meals for Mutts, and dog-walks and pet-sits in her free time. She is happily married to her husband Andrew.
Animal Care Assistant
Cory Jedrewski is a full-time animal care assistant at Cats & Critters. She was born and raised in Rochester, NY and has been working with animals since 2012.
She says that her favorite part of work is working with her co-workers and a wide variety of small animals. Jedrewski owns a cat named Jack and a ferret named Topanga. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family and going to concerts.
